NIDAAN INSTITUTE OF REHABILITATION AND TRAINING

Nidaan Institute of Rehabilitation & Training is established under the NGO Nidaan Sewa Samiti , with the intention to enhance and enrich the Mental Health of people from all walks of life. NIRT works on 360 degree MULTI DIMENSIONAL approach on Mental Health.

Mental illness is an illness just like a physical illness. But instead of affecting a person’s body, it affects the person’s mental realm and behavior and the organ that controls them, the brain. Mental disorders and mental health problems can affect people at any age. A physical illness might make it difficult to walk; a mental illness can make it difficult to maintain relationships with people or cope with the smallest of life’s daily routine activities. It is human nature that most of us think that mental illness is one of those things that happen only to other people. Mental illness is much more common that people think, but in reality is just more often than not, shrouded, hidden from view and not talked about.
Just as there are many different kinds of physical illnesses, there are many different kinds of mental illnesses – more than 200. The most common adult mental illnesses are depression, bipolar disorder also known as manic depression, and schizophrenia. Although more predominant in adults, children and adolescents can have mental illnesses too. This term is commonly used to describe a child or adolescent who has an underlying mental issue that severely disrupts his or her ability to function socially, academically and emotionally at home, in school, or in the community. The most common child and adolescent emotional, behavioral and mental disorders include depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, conduct disorders, anxiety and eating disorders, and schizophrenia.

Nidaan Institute of Rehabilitation and Training provides remedial intervention to children with special needs, especially those with learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Intellectual Disabilities, Hearing Impairment, Speech and Language Impairments and Development Delays. NIRT also provides programs for enhancement of study skills and creative expression and training in National Institute of Open School (NIOS) Curriculum.
