NIDDAN works in one of the most neglected areas of health i.e. Mental health. Mental health is not a priority as a health issue in any part of the world, more so in developing nations like India. NIDAAN thrust is twofold – one, to establish Mental health within the mainstream health paradigm of India and second, to ‘speak for’ a large population of people with mental illness and their right to a professional and inclusive system of care and treatment. Nidaan Institute of Rehabilitation and Training provides remedial intervention to children with special needs, especially those with learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Hearing Impairment, Speech and Language Impairments and Development Delays. NIRT also provides programs for the enhancement of study skills and creative expression and training in National Institute of Open School (NIOS) Curriculum.
